North Western University student found dead in Khulna

KHULNA, April 21, 2026 (BSS) - Police have recovered the body of a North Western University student from a residence in the Nirala area of the city late Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Utsab Roy, 26, son of Kanak Kanti Roy of Ramnagar village in Dacope upazila.

Police said they were informed by locals around 11:30 pm and later recovered the body from a sixth-floor apartment of a building on Road No. 7 in the Nirala area.

Preliminary information suggests that the student had been facing financial difficulties and personal distress, police added.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulna Police Station Md. Shafiqul Islam said legal procedures are underway and the body will be handed over to the family after formalities are completed.
