PM distributes food among poor

DHAKA, May 30, 2026 (BSS)- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today distributed clothes and food items among the poor and destitute people on the occasion of 45th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.

The food and cothes distribution programme began at around 11:30 am on the Rajdhani High School premises on Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.

The event organised as part of a daylong programme of BNP for distribution of clothes, daily essentials and free medical services to people on the occasion of martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque, Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton and former councilor Anwaruzzaman were present at the event.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to participate in similar events at 16 more spots in Dhaka city today.

Earlier, in the morning, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid tribute to Ziaur Rahman by placing floral wreath at his grave.

BNP and its affiliated organisations are arranging different programmes across the country on the occasion. 

Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman founded the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in 1978. He was martyred in the Chittagong Circuit House on May 30, 1981, while he was the president. BNP observes the day as 'martyrdom anniversary'.
