TANGAIL, May 29, 2026 (BSS) - A cleanliness drive has begun in the district to ensure the quick removal of sacrificial animal wastes and maintain a clean town following Eid-ul-Azha.

The programme was inaugurated this morning on the main road in the Babystand area of Tangail town by State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku.

Salauddin Tuku said everyone must act responsibly to keep the town clean.

“This programme has been undertaken to raise awareness among people and encourage them in cleanliness programme. Through collective efforts, it is possible to turn Tangail into a cleaner and more livable town,” he said.

He said, “Keeping our town clean is the responsibility of all of us. It is difficult for the municipality alone to clean the entire town within a short time. However, if everyone cooperates from their respective position, it will be possible to clean the town quickly.”

Following the inauguration, the cleanup operation continued from Babystand Madrasa Ground to Thana Mor and market areas along the town’s major roads.

More than 50 leaders, activists and supporters of the district Swechasebak Dal took part in removing waste scattered across roads and surrounding areas using brooms and various cleaning equipment.

Former member secretary of district BNP Mahmudul Haque Sanu, acting member secretary of Jubo Dal Zahid Hossain Mala, member secretary of Swechasebak Dal Saleh Mohammad Shafi Ethen, general secretary of Matsyajibi Dal Mostafa Kamal, and leaders of town and thana Swechasebak Dal were present at the event.
