RAJSHAHI, May 29, 2026 (BSS) - Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has set a new record by removing sacrificial waste everywhere in the city ahead of the stipulated time.

RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton is being showered with praise by city residents for this success in removing the waste in the shortest possible time on the holy Eid-ul-Adha and keeping the city clean.

To implement the directives of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and fulfill a previously announced commitment, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman took to the field on Eid day itself.

The RCC Administrator had declared: "Rajshahi will be clean within 6 to 8 hours." RCC turned that promise into reality ahead of schedule.

It was learned that the waste removal operation began simultaneously in all 30 wards of the metropolis from 12 pm on Thursday.

At noon, the RCC Administrator inspected the waste removal activities in the city's Ward No. 9. Later in the afternoon, he visited ongoing operations at various sites, including the Bulonpur Secondary Transfer Station (STS), the STS near RUET, and the RU STS.

Under the dynamic leadership of the RCC Administrator, 1,270 cleaners worked tirelessly to carry out waste removal swiftly in every ward of the city.

Alongside removing the sacrificial waste, a sufficient amount of bleaching powder and disinfectant was sprayed to keep the city odor-free and hygienic.

Necessary vehicles, equipment and manpower were deployed round the clock for this work.

From 12 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, sacrificial waste was collected from neighborhoods and transported by van to the RCC's STSs. Through this, Rajshahi city has already been cleaned. From 4 pm, waste has been transferred from the STSs to the landfill. This work will be completed by 2 am.

For this achievement, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton expressed heartfelt thanks to city residents, conservancy workers and all concerned.

He said, "It was possible to clean the metropolis ahead of schedule only because of the cooperation of citizens and the sincere efforts of the cleaners. We are working tirelessly to ensure civic services. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, we will continue to work day and night in this way to build a new Bangladesh."

Meanwhile, for this success in keeping the city clean by removing sacrificial waste in the fastest time, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Riton is receiving widespread praise from city dwellers.

Shariful Islam, a resident of the city's Saheb Bazar area, said, "The RCC's promptness in managing sacrificial waste was highly commendable. We are relieved that the city was cleaned ahead of schedule."

Sharmin Akter, a housewife from the Uposhohor area, said, "I really liked the initiative to provide eco-friendly bags and bleaching powder for preserving sacrificial meat. It has made it easier to maintain cleanliness."

Abdul Kader, a businessman from the Lakshmipur area, said, "It is truly commendable that the Administrator himself was on the ground supervising the work on Eid day. Because the waste was removed so quickly, there was no bad odor or suffering."

It is notable that this year, for the first time, on the initiative of RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, three eco-friendly bags were distributed to every Muslim family in the city's approximately 82,000 holdings for preserving sacrificial meat.

In addition, those sacrificing cattle or buffalo were given two large eco-friendly bags and 1 kg of bleaching powder, while those sacrificing goats or sheep received one eco-friendly bag and 500 grams of bleaching powder.

This played an important role in waste management and maintaining a hygienic environment.
