RAJSHAHI, May 28, 2026 (BSS) – Drive to remove sacrificial animal waste is underway simultaneously across all 30 wards of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC).

The operation began at 11:00 am today in all 30 wards. Waste is being collected from neighborhoods and lanes and transported by van to the City Corporation's Secondary Transfer Stations (STS).

A total of 1,270 RCC workers, along with necessary vehicles and equipment, have been deployed for the work. In addition, sufficient bleaching powder and disinfectants are being sprayed to prevent bad odor.

This afternoon, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton inspected and supervised the qurbani waste removal activities in the city's Ward No. 9.

At that time, the Administrator said, "The conservancy people are working tirelessly to present a clean and healthy city in the shortest possible time. I urge city residents to store qurbani waste in the eco-friendly bags we have provided and keep it at designated places, and to cooperate with us in building a clean city."

It is to be noted that to ensure the waste removal is completed properly, leave has been cancelled for all officers, employees and cleaners of the conservancy department of RCC, as well as drivers and assistants of the transport branch and others concerned.

For smooth monitoring of the waste removal, 90 officers and employees — three in each ward — have been assigned across the 30 wards.

For the first time this year, the RCC has provided three eco-friendly bags for hygienic storage of qurbani meat to every Muslim family in approximately 82,000 holdings across Rajshahi city.

Those sacrificing cattle or buffalo received two large eco-friendly bags and 1 kg of bleaching powder, while those sacrificing goats or sheep received one eco-friendly bag and 500 grams of bleaching powder.
