DHAKA, May 27, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka south administrator Md. Abdus Salam has urged the citizens to slaughter their sacrificial animals in designated places and dispose waste in jute bags.

“Over 100,000 jute bags have been distributed among residents for waste disposal. Citizens should be conscious in ensuring the quick removal of sacrificial animal waste and maintaining cleanliness in the capital,” he told a press briefing after inspecting the National Eidgah today.

State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam was also present.

Salam said the city corporation is fully prepared to remove all sacrificial waste as devotees are expected to slaughter their sacrificial animals for three days following the Eid congregation tomorrow.

The administrator urged the citizens not to dump waste into drains by any means as it could block the drainage system creating severe risk of waterlogging during the monsoon.

Mentioning that Savlon and bleaching powder have also been supplied to residents to support cleanliness efforts, the city administrator urged people to wash sacrificial sites thoroughly and use bleaching powder and disinfectants afterward.

The DSCC authorities have cancelled leave for city corporation officials and employees during Eid so they can remain engaged in serving residents throughout the holiday period.
