DHAKA, May 27, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury has urged people to dispose of sacrificial animal waste at designated places during Eid-ul-Azha to prevent environmental pollution.

He urged citizens not to dump waste into drains by any means as it could block the drainage system creating severe risk of waterlogging during the monsoon in respective areas.

The state minister made the remarks today while addressing a programme organised by Mymensingh City Corporation at Tarek Smriti Auditorium of the Town Hall in the city.

He distributed Eid gift items among 4,737 extremely poor and underprivileged families on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Azha.

The state minister said that various programmes of the government, including canal excavation across Bangladesh have significantly reduced waterlogging.

Mymensingh City Corporation Administrator Md. Rukunuzzaman Rokon presided over the function.

Acting Chief Executive Officer of the City Corporation Sumona Al Majid, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Azim Uddin, Chief Social Welfare Officer Sitesh Chandra Sarkar, and urban planner Manas Biswas, among others, were present at the event.
