BARISHAL, May 27, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Shipping Rajib Ahsan today said all necessary preparations have been completed to ensure safe travel of the homebound passengers.

Speaking to journalists after visiting the Barishal river port this afternoon, the state minister said, “All kinds of preparations are in place centering the Eid journey. We are working to ensure the safe return of people who have already left for home. We are working to fulfill people’s expectations, ensure safe travel home, and bring them back safely.”

The state minister said the government has fixed a fare chart for both calm and rough water routes on a per-kilometre and route-wise basis. He urged the vessel owners to follow the fare chart strictly.

He warned that action would be taken against any launch operator if they are found charging extra fares or carrying excess passengers on routes.

However, he noted that no complaints had been received so far.

Rajib Ahsan said the Ministry of Shipping is continuously working to ensure a smooth and hassle-free service for passengers.

Officials of Barishal river port, police administration personnel, and other senior officials were present during the visit.
