PM offers prayers at graves of army officers

DHAKA, May 28, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has visited the graves of the army officers killed in the BDR carnage and offered prayers there.
  
The premier along with his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman arrived at the Banani Military Graveyard around 9:15 am today.

Tarique Rahman and his wife offered prayers at the grave of his father-in-law former Navy Chief Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan and offered munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed soul. 

Later, they went to the graves of the army officers killed in the BDR carnage. Standing in front of the memorial monument, they took part in a special prayer seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of the officers.

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Social Welfare Minister Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, and State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, among others, were present. 

BDR carnage took place on February 25 and 26, 2009, killing a total of 74 persons, including 57 army officers including Director General Major General Shakil Ahmed.

Most of the army officers were laid to eternal rest in this graveyard.
