Main Eid-ul-Azha congregation held at Hazrat Shah Makhdum Central Eidgah in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, May 28, 2026 (BSS) - The main Eid-ul-Azha prayer congregation of Rajshahi metropolis was held at the Hazrat Shah Makhdum Central Eidgah today.

The holy Eid-ul-Azha congregation, held at 7:30 am was led by Mufti Mostafizur Rahman Kasemi.

Land Minister Md. Mizanur Rahman Minu, Divisional Commissioner Dr. A.N.M. Bazlur Rashid, Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, and District Council Administrator Advocate Ershad Ali Isha joined the congregation at the city's Shah Makhdum Central Eidgah.

DIG of Police,  Rajshahi Range Mohammad Shahjahan, Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam, RMP Police Commissioner Mohammad Faizul Kabir, former mayor Mohammad Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul also joined the congregation, along with political leaders, senior government   officials, distinguished citizens and worshippers.

After the prayer, a special doa and munajat was offered seeking the welfare, peace and prosperity of the country as well as for  Muslims Ummah  .

Speaking to journalists after the prayer, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said, "According to the directive of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, instructions have been given to remove the sacrificial waste within 12 hours. We hope to successfully remove all sacrificial waste within 6 to 8 hours, InshaAllah. I seek the full cooperation of the city dwellers to this end."

He further said for the quick removal of sacrificial animals waste and to protect public health, eco-friendly biodegradable bags and bleaching powder have been distributed to Muslim families in the city .

Those sacrificing cows or buffaloes have been given two large eco-friendly biodegradable bags and 1 kg of bleaching powder, and those sacrificing goats or sheep have been given one eco-friendly bag and 500 grams of bleaching powder.

“Our appeal to city residents is, please do not throw sacrificial waste indiscriminately. Preserve it in an eco-friendly manner in the bags we have provided, and the City Corporation workers will collect them," he added.
