DHAKA, May 30, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yaser Khan Chowdhury today said that the ideals, patriotism and leadership of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman continue to inspire the nation on the path of democracy, nationalism and development.
“Ziaur Rahman’s contribution will be forever remembered in the political history of Bangladesh,” he made the remarks while addressing a Quran khwani, milad and doa mahfil at the office of Nandail upazila BNP in Mymensingh.
Nandail Upazila BNP organized the programme marking the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the founder of BNP, proclaimer of independence, advocate of multi-party democracy and former President of the country.
The state minister said, “Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman not only played an important role in protecting the country's independence and sovereignty, but also made outstanding contributions to establishing multi-party democracy and strengthening the foundation of national development."
He added that Ziaur Rahman’s eventful life would continue to serve as an example for the future generations of the country.
The state minister further said that everyone should work unitedly for the welfare of the country and its people by embracing Ziaur Rahman’s vision of sacrifice and nation-building.
A special prayer was offered at the event seeking eternal peace for the soul of Ziaur Rahman. Prayers were also offered for the peace, progress and prosperity of the country, the nation and the Muslim Ummah.
Local political leaders, party activists, public representatives and people from all walks of life attended the prayer gathering.
