8 more children die of measles-like symptoms

DHAKA, May 30, 2026 (BSS) - Eight more children have died of measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours. 

During the same period, the total number of reported cases reached 1,086, according to regular report of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The number of suspected measles cases recorded in the last 24 hours was 1,033. 

Since March 15, the total number of suspected measles cases stood at 69,612.

In the past 24 hours, 53 cases were confirmed as measles, bringing the total number of confirmed measles cases since March 15 to 8,996.

From March 15, a total of 55,705 patients with suspected measles were admitted to hospitals. During the same period, 52,050 patients recovered and were discharged from hospital.

Since March 15, the number of deaths among suspected measles cases has reached 493. During the same period, 90 deaths have been confirmed as resulting from measles.

So far, the highest number of suspected measles cases has been reported in the Dhaka division, where 32,908 people have been identified as suspected cases. Of these, 6,261 cases have been confirmed as measles.
