BAMAKO, July 15, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - At least six refugees were killed and 84 others injured when a truck carrying freight and passengers overturned in central Mali, the United Nations refugee agency UNHCR said on Wednesday.

The crash occurred Tuesday in the Bandiagara region which hosts the largest number of refugees in Mali, most of whom had fled jihadist violence in neighbouring Burkina Faso, the UNHCR said.

The majority of passengers on the truck were Burkinabe refugees and 36 among the injured are in critical condition, UNHCR said.
