
NARAYANGANJ, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS) – BNP-led alliance candidate for Narayanganj-4 (Sadar) Monir Hossain Kasemi of Jamiyatul Ulama-e-Islam Bangladesh has assured the people of working for the development of the locality and the safety of people of the constituency if elected in the 13th national parliament election.
In an interview with Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), Kasemi spoke about the electoral environment, public expectations, and his plans if elected.
On his election pledges, Monir Hossain Kasemi said he is determined to work for the area’s development and public security to the best of his abilities.
Regarding the election code of conduct, he said he has warned all party workers to strictly follow the rules and that he himself is watchful about this matter.
Asked about the implementation of July Charter and referendum, Kashemi said,“It is a matter for lawmakers and legal experts to decide and ordinary citizens are not in a position to judge or vote on the technicalities of the issue at this stage.”
Expressing his expectations for the upcoming election, Kasemi said,“People have long been deprived of a fair election and stressed that this time voters should be able to freely choose their representatives spontaneously.”
Monir Hossain Kasemi, joint general secretary and district president of Jamiyatul Ulama-e-Islam, is contesting the election with the ‘Date Palm’ symbol.
He first came into the local political spotlight during the 2018 election when he ran as a 20-party BNP-led alliance candidate, contesting under the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ symbol.
Besides him, a total of 14 nominees were submitted paper in the constituency, of which 13 were declared valid.
Other candidates of the constituency include Abdullah Al Amin of the Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance; Mohammad Ali of Bangladesh Republican Party; independents Md Shah Alam and Mohammad Gias Uddin; Mufti Ismail Kawsar of Islami Andolan; Selim Mahmud of Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BASAD); Anwar Hossain and Elias Ahmed of Khelafat Majlish; Md Sulaiman Dewan of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal; Salauddin Khoka Molla of Jatiya Party; Arif Bhuiyan of Gano Odhikar Parishad; Selim Ahmed of Bangladesh Supreme Party and Iqbal Hossain of CPB.
Narayanganj-4 constituency comprises seven unions of Sadar upazila—Fatullah, Kutubpur, Baktabali, Kashipur, Enayetnagar, Gognagar, and Alirtek.
The constituency has 535,327 voters, including 270,017 men, 265,304 women and six third-gender voters, with 177 polling centres.
