NETRAKONA, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate for Netrakona-2 (Sadar-Barhatta) constituency, Prof Dr Md Anwarul Haque, has pledged to build an environment free from terror, drugs and corruption.

Of the five parliamentary constituencies of the district, Netrakona-2 (Sadar-Barhatta) constituency is the district headquarters, so it always gets a special focus among political parties and voters.

Netrakona District BNP President Dr Anwarul Haque remained beside his party men in various ways during the fascist regime of the fallen government. He is a renowned doctor by profession. So, he is quite optimistic about this election with the determination to devote himself to serving the people at a large scale.

Anwarul Haque talked about his vision and aspiration during conversation with BSS Netrakona district correspondent Md Tanvir Hayat Khan recently.

BSS: What is your commitment to the voters of your area?
Anwarul Haque: After 17 long years, people are looking forward to voting with enthusiasm. The entire district, including the Netrakona Sadar-Barhatta parliamentary constituency, was neglected in the past. In particular, there are various complications in the education system and health system, in addition to the poor communication system. So, we will give importance to these issues. We want to generate employment opportunities for our new generation who will vote for the first time and whose education has already been completed, and to build industries for the women’s employment. We will move forward with the goal of implementing the 31-point plan of our party chairman Tarique Rahman.

BSS: What are your instructions to your leaders and activists to follow the electoral code of conduct?

Anwarul Haque: I have instructed the leaders and activists of our party to follow the code of conduct in the upcoming elections. The code of conduct must be followed. We have instructed our leaders and activists to conduct election campaign in the coming days in full compliance with the rules and we will continue to do so in the coming days. We will cooperate with the government in accordance with the rules and respect each other.

BSS: What is your position on the referendum?

Anwarul Haque: My position is in favour of the referendum. I will ask everyone to vote for ‘Yes’ in the referendum. There is no alternative to voting ‘Yes’ to move Bangladesh forward, if we want a beautiful Bangladesh free from oppression and fascism. Then there is no alternative to voting ‘Yes’ in the referendum.

BSS: What are your expectations in the upcoming national elections?
Anwarul Haque: Alhamdulillah, after 17 long years, we are able to participate in the elections in an environment free from fascism. I am committed to working with the people to create a beautiful, healthy political environment free from terrorism, extortion, drugs, and corruption for the people of Netrakona.
