
NETRAKONA, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS) – Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) candidate from Netrakona-2 constituency Md Fahim Rahman Khan Pathan has pledged to eradicate unemployment and ensuring development of educational institutions.
Fahim also promised to resolve various problems prevailing in health and education system in the district.
NCP candidate from this constituency and central member of the party Fahim Rahman Khan Pathan is contesting the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad polls with the ‘Shapla Koli’ symbol. He was involved in various movements while he was a student. He participated in the quota reform movement, safe roads movement and the 2024 July uprising.
Fahim Rahman Khan Pathan talked about his goals and expectation in the upcoming polls in an exclusive interview with BSS District Correspondent Md Tanvir Hayat Khan here recently. Following is the excerpts of this interview:
BSS: What is your election promise for the voters of your area?
Pathan: If I am elected, I will work for ensuring balanced development in various sectors especially the education sector. I will make education free for students up to twelve class and help students get jobs in various multinational companies. I will take steps to ensure that the government hospitals and community hospitals in each union are functional and doctors provide proper services.
People of our area go to Bhaluka, Trishal, Gazipur, Narayanganj for jobs, resulting in a distance from their families. So, I will try to create various workplaces so that people from outside can also come and work in this area. I will start extensive activities to renovate roads, mosques and temples in our area.
BSS: What are your instructions to your leaders and workers to follow the electoral code of conduct?
Pathan: Leaders and workers have been instructed to conduct election campaign following electoral code of conduct in the upcoming elections. We respect the Election Commission's electoral code of conduct and will try to comply with it properly.
BSS: What is your position on the referendum on the July Charter?
Pathan: Regarding the referendum, I will tell everyone to vote for ‘Yes’ in the referendum. There is no alternative to vote for ‘Yes’ to move Bangladesh forward.
BSS: What are your expectations in the upcoming elections?
Pathan: If people want to see a healthy political environment in Netrakona Sadar and Barhatta free from terrorism, extortion, drugs and corruption, then they will vote for me. I am with the people. My request to the people of Netrakona Sadar-Barhatta is that they all should vote in the polls at their own responsibility.
A total of five candidates from five parties are contesting in the upcoming national polls in Netrokona-2 (Sadar-Barhatta) constituency.
BNP candidate Dr Anwarul Haque (sheaf of paddy), National Citizen Party (NCP) candidate Fahim Rahman Khan Pathan (shapla koli), Islami Andolan Bangladesh candidate Abdul Qayyum (hand-fan), Bangladesh Khilafat Andolan’s Abdur Rahim (banyan tree) and Jatiya Party's ABM Rafiqul Haque Talukder (plough) are contesting in the polls.
According to the Election Commission, there are 5,02,4,38 voters in this constituency. Besides, there are 5,1,04 postal voters.
