DHAKA, August 2, 2025 (BSS) - A dialogue between the law students of different universities and the senior officials of the Supreme Court (SC) was held at the SC auditorium here today.

Chaired by the Registrar of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court Muhammad Hasanuzzaman, the conference was held under the title 'Mutual view exchange - a dialogue between Supreme Court and the law students'. Registrar General of the Supreme Court Dr Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan joined the dialogue as chief guest.

Registrar of the High Court (HC) Division Habibur Rahman Siddiqui delivered the address of welcome at the dialogue where representatives from the German Embassy in Dhaka, senior lawyers of the Supreme Court and invited guests were present.

The dialogue was organized jointly by the Access to Justice for Women project with the assistance from the GIZ Bangladesh and European Union (EU).

Public Relations Officer of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court Md Shariful Islam said four, including two female students of the Law Department from some universities, were selected with gender equality for the dialogue. Similar conference comprising the law students from some other universities will also be held in September next, the public relations officer added.

The speakers of the dialogue said that the judiciary has been playing an important role in building a strong and stable constitutional democracy in the country. Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed since after taking the charge of his office has been working relentlessly for building an independent, neutral and bold judiciary, they said, adding that on September 21 last year, he announced a road map in presence of the judges of both the divisions and the judges working at the district levels for establishing rule of law and ensuring fair justice through necessary reforms.

The Chief Justice also gave 12-point instructions for the judicial officers and staff to ensure their transparency and accountability to render easy judicial services to the justice seekers, the speakers added.
