
DHAKA, Oct 30, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered to seize tax documents of former Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq over graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Assistant director Abul Kalam Azad of the anti-graft body filed the plea.
According to the ACC plea, an investigation is underway against AKM.Mozammel Huq for allegedly abusing his power to amass wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income through illicit means, and for conducting suspicious financial transactions in four bank accounts under his name, involving the transfer, conversion, and relocation of those funds.
"For the sake of a fair and proper investigation of the case, it is essential to collect and review the permanent file, miscellaneous section, and assessment reports (if any) of the income tax records of the accused, along with all related documents, information, note sheets, and relevant office orders. So the documents should be seized immediately," it added.
Meanwhile, the same court also ordered to seize tax documents of Ashraful Alam Khokan, former deputy press secretary of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and her wife Rizwana Noor. It also ordered to seize tax documents of former spokesperson of Ministry of Home Affairs Sharif Mahmud Apu.
The ACC plea for seizing the tax documents of the couple stated that an investigation is going on against Khokon and his wife for allegedly abusing government power to acquire and possess illegal wealth in their own names and in the names of others, and for conducting suspicious financial transactions through three bank accounts under their names involving the transfer, conversion, and relocation of those funds.
"So, for the sake of proper investigation, their tax documents should be seized immediately," the ACC plea added.
