CHATTOGRAM, Nov 20, 2025 (BSS) - A regional workshop titled "Bangladesh's
Agriculture Transformation Vision 2050" was held in Chattogram, aiming to
develop a long-term strategy for modernizing and sustainably advancing the
country's agricultural sector.

The event focused on the Chattogram and Rangamati regions and was organized
by the Ministry of Agriculture with support from the UN Food and Agriculture
Organization (FAO). It took place at a city hotel.

Dr Md Emdad Ullah Mian, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, attended
the workshop as the chief guest. FAO Representative Martin Maogastine and
senior officials of the ministry also addressed the event, which was chaired
by Additional Secretary Dr Md Mahmudur Rahman.

Speaking at the programme, the Agriculture Secretary highlighted the
government's long-term plan for the sustainable development of Bangladesh's
agriculture up to 2050. He said the current administration is prioritizing
the sector to strengthen the agriculture-based economy and ensure safe food
production.

"To achieve this vision, a detailed plan will be formulated by gathering
input from all stakeholders and thoroughly identifying existing constraints,"
he noted.

He added that proper utilization of unused land in the Chattogram region
could significantly boost food production.

Representatives from government and private organizations, researchers,
agricultural officers, entrepreneurs, university teachers, and farmers took
