Envoy calls for new Japanese investment beyond garment sector

DHAKA, Nov 19, 2025 (BSS) - Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Saida Shinichi today encouraged new Japanese investment that can support Bangladesh's industrial diversification beyond the garment sector.
 
He made the urge while attending the "Bangladesh-Japan Forum on Food and Agribusiness", co-organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of Bangladesh, Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Dhaka Office, said a Japanese embassy's press release here.

The forum, held as part of ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture of Bangladesh and MAFF of Japan, brought together stakeholders from the public and private sectors of both countries.

Ambassador Saida said food and agriculture remain priority sectors under the Japan-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership.
 
He expressed hope that the forum would further strengthen bilateral collaboration, deepen engagement between government and industry, and pave the way for new Japanese investment that contributes to Bangladesh's broader industrial transformation.
