CHANDPUR, April 2, 2026 (BSS) - A trader in the district town has been fined Tk 50,000 for selling fuel at prices higher than those set by the government.

Based on information, a drive was conducted on Wednesday afternoon at Railway Ghat No. 5 by Abdullah Al Imran, Assistant Director of the District Office of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department.

During the raid, authorities found that the establishment, M/s Shahjalal Traders, was charging excessive prices for fuel, failing to maintain sales records in the official register, using multiple sales memo books, and operating without displaying a price list.

As a result, a fine of Tk 50,000 was imposed under the Consumer Rights Protection Act and realized on the spot.

The owner paid the fine immediately and assured the authorities that such violations would not be repeated in the future.

Officials said that similar drives will continue to protect consumer rights and ensure fair market practices.
