PIROJPUR, April 2, 2026 (BSS) - The Nesarabad upazila administration of the district on Wednesday seized over 4,000 litres of diesel allegedly hoarded at Madhya Kathi Bazar under Atghar Kuriana union in the upazila.

The drive, conducted in the afternoon based on confidential information, was led by the upazila administration with assistance from the army.

During the operation, officials raided a warehouse owned by local businessman Badsha Talukder (Nantu) and recovered 4,018 litres of diesel.

The accused admitted to stockpiling the fuel with the intention of selling it at inflated prices.

A mobile court, led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Amit Dutta, fined Nantu Tk 10,000 under Section 20(1) of the Petroleum Act, 2016.

The seized diesel was handed over to Mahmudul Hasan, proprietor of M/s Sufia Enterprise, an authorized dealer in the area.

Officials said the total proceeds from the sale of the diesel, amounting to Tk 4,01,800, will be deposited into the government treasury.

UNO Amit Dutta said hoarding fuel to create artificial shortages and selling it at excessive prices is a punishable offense, adding that such drives will continue in the public interest.
