
TANGAIL, April 2, 2026 (BSS) – A programme distributing free seeds and fertilizers among small and marginal farmers was inaugurated in Nagarpur upazila of Tangail to increase agricultural production.
The programme, organized by the Department of Agricultural Extension, was inaugurated this afternoon at the upazila parishad premises by president of upazil Sramik Dal Md. Ariful Islam Naba.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Erfan Uddin chaired the event.
Among others, Nagarpur upazila BNP president heroic freedom fighter M A Salam and general secretary Md. Habibur Rahman Hobi were present as special guests.
Officials from agriculture, fisheries, and livestock departments also spoke at the event.
Under the programme for FY 2025-26, a total of 1,050 farmers in the upazila will receive seeds and fertilizers free of cost.
Of them, 350 jute farmers will get 1 kg seed and 10 kg fertilizer each, 400 sesame farmers will receive 1 kg seed and 15 kg fertilizer each, and 300 Aus paddy farmers will be given 5 kg seed and 20 kg fertilizer each.
