
KHULNA, Nov 1, 2025 (BSS) - Authorities of Khulna City Corporation (KCC)
urged city dwellers to keep their homesteads and surroundings clean alongside
the ongoing activities to curb mosquito breeding and prevent dengue and
chikungunya outbreaks.
They made the call during the cleaning activities in different ponds and
water bodies across Khulna city under the project titled "Healthy Cities:
Urban Governance for Health and Well-being in Khulna City Corporation."
The initiative, being implemented with the support of the World Health
Organization (WHO) and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS),
aims to make Khulna a cleaner and healthier city.
As part of the programme, water hyacinths and waste were removed today
(Saturday) from the pond inside Talimul Millat Rahmatia Fazil Madrasa in the
city. Members of BD-Kin Khulna participated in the cleaning drive.
KCC conservancy officer Md Wahiduzzaman Khan, administrative officer Molla
Maruf Rashid, license officer Khan Habibur Rahman, Madrasa Principal A S M
Najmus Saud, Divisional Coordinator of NGO BELA Mahfuzur Rahman Mukul, WHO
programme officer Asif Ahmed, vice-president of Amra Brihattor Khulnabasi
Sardar Abu Taher, and executive director of SIAM, a voluntary organization,
advocate Md Masum Billah, among others, were present on the occasion.
