DHAKA, Nov 1, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman today expressed the hope that students of Tamirul Millat Kamil Madrasa will devote themselves to acquiring religious knowledge and work for bringing positive changes in society.
“Thousands of madrasas exist in Bangladesh, but few have earned such wide recognition. People across the country know Tamirul Millat by its name,” he added.
Dr Shafiqur was addressing virtually at the first alumni conference of the historic Tamirul Millat Kamil Madrasa at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in the city’s Agargaon area.
The daylong event, divided into four sessions, brought together teachers, alumni, and dignitaries from various sectors.
Dr. Rahman said he was grateful to Allah for being able to join the conference virtually and commended the contributions of the institution’s alumni across the world.
“Wherever you work, seek fulfillment through your contribution. Those who receive true religious education are indeed fortunate,” he said.
Editor of Daily Amar Desh Mahmudur Rahman said the first alumni conference marked a moment of joy and renewal, coming after the July Revolution that, according to him, transformed Bangladesh politically, religiously, and culturally.
“Through that revolution, we rediscovered our identity as Bengali Muslims,” he said.
Sharing his experience, Mahmudur Rahman said he realized the madrasa’s global reputation during his studies at the International Islamic University Malaysia in 2019.
“I saw how highly regarded Tamirul Millat students are. The institution has successfully blended Islamic and modern education in a way that serves as a model for others,” he added.
Chaired by madrasa’s principal and conference convener Dr. Khalilur Rahman Madani, it was also attended by leading academics, religious scholars, political figures, and public officials, along with over 3,000 registered alumni from 120 batches since its inception.
The conference began with an inaugural address by Tamirul Millat Trust Secretary Principal Maulana Zainul Abedin.
Noted preacher Shaikh Ahmadullah, Islamic University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nakib Md. Nasrullah, Islamic Arabic University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shamsul Alam, Madrasa Education Board Chairman Prof. Miah Md. Nurul Haque, Jamaat Executive Council Member and Dhaka South Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul, DUCSU VP Md Abu Sadiq Kayem, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Central President Zahidul Islam, former President Hafiz Rashedul Islam, former Principal Dr. Abu Yusuf, and Jamaat Dhaka South Nayeeb-e-Ameer Abdus Sabur Fakir, among others, also addressed on the occasion.
