SIRAJGANJ, Sept 14, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to death for killing his father in Salanga upazila of the district in 2020.
Judge of Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-3 Md Mahbubur Rahman delivered the verdict this afternoon.
The court also fined convict Rezaul Karim Labu Taka 50,000, in default, to suffer six months of rigorous imprisonment.
In the same verdict, the deceased's wife Renuka Begum and daughter-in-law, the wife of death row convict Rezaul Karim Labu, Ismat Ara, have been sentenced to three months of rigorous imprisonment and fined, said Assistant Public Prosecutor of the court Advocate Abdul Latif Akhand.
According to the prosecution, on March 4, 2020, the body of Idris Ali was found floating in a pond at Olidah village of Salanga upazila with a rope around his neck and feet. Later, police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
On the same day, the deceased's son Rezaul Karim Labu filed a murder case with Salanga Police Station against unknown persons.
Police investigation revealed that Rezaul Karim Labu, the plaintiff in the case, had killed his father Idris Ali. Later, after taking his statement under Section 164 and taking his testimony, the court delivered this verdict.
