Two including former Gafargaon municipality mayor on remand

DHAKA, Sept 24, 2025(BSS) - A court here today granted four days of remand to former Gafargaon municipality mayor Kaiser Ahmed and Shramik League's Dhaka Cantonment Thana unit president Khairul Khan Juwel in a case lodged under anti-terrorism act.

Police produced the duo before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court and sought seven days of remand. Metropolitan Magistrate Juwel Rana, after hearing the prosecution, granted four days of remand for both of them.

According to the case, the arrestee along with their accomplices gathered near Jabbar Town in Gulshan area on April 22 to bring out an anti-government procession. They along with the activists of banned Chhatra League and Awami League chanted slogans against the government.

A case was filed with Gulshan Thana in this connection under anti-terrorism act that night.
