Two brothers to die in Jashore murder case

JASHORE, Nov 24, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced two brothers to death for killing their cousin in Jhikargachha upazila of the district in 2023.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Jewel Adhikari delivered the verdict in presence of the convicts.

The convicts are - Osman Gani and Ali Hossain, sons of late Sabed Ali Sardar of Chhota Podaulia village in Shankarpur union under Jhikargachha upazila of the district.

The court also acquitted Khadija Khatun, wife of Osman Gani, as the charges brought against her were nor proven, said Additional Public Prosecutor of the court Azizul Islam.

According to prosecution, Kamrul Amin, son of Nurul Haque of Chhota Podaulia village in Jhikargachha upazila, had a long-standing dispute with his cousins Osman Gani and Ali Hossain over land. On the evening of September 7, 2023, when Kamrul went to build a boundary wall on his land, Osman and Ali Hossain got into an argument with him. At one point, Osmana and Ali Hossain hacked Kamrul indiscriminately, injuring him and fled away.

Later, Kamrul was taken to Jessore General Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead. 

In this incident, Kamrul's brother Ruhul Amin Sardar filed a murder case with Jhikargachha Police Station accusing Osman Gani, Osman Gani's wife Khadija Khatun, and Ali Hossain. 

On July 3, 2024, Jhikargachha Police Station Sub-Inspector Boni Israel submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court. 

The court also fined them Taka 10,000 each.
