Man placed on 2-day remand for killing businessman in Sutrapur

DHAKA, Dec 13, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed Ayan Ganguly Palash (44) on two-day remand for his suspected involvement in the killing of a businessman in broad daylight in city’s Sutrapur area on Thursday.

The businessman identified as Abdur Rahman (55) was also the former president of the Dhaka City Corporation Fish Market Association.

Police produced Palash before the court of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate and sought a five-day remand for proper investigation into the case. After the hearing, Metropolitan Magistrate Habibullah Piyas granted a two-day remand to Palash.

Earlier on Friday, police arrested Palash from the Kalyanpur Bus Stand area of the capital.

On December 11, at around 12:00 noon, Abdur Rahman was shot dead in front of the Maula Box Eye Hospital at Shyambazar area of Sutrapur thana. 

Following the incident, on December 12, the victim’s son Shakil filed a murder case with Sutrapur Police Station.
