EC to hold meeting tomorrow on law, order ahead of Bogura-6 by-polls, Sherpur-3 polls

DHAKA, March 10, 2026 (BSS) - The Election Commission (EC) will hold a meeting tomorrow with the armed forces and other law enforcement agencies to review the law and order situation ahead of the upcoming by-election to Bogura-6 constituency and the election in Sherpur-3.

The information was disclosed today in a letter signed by EC Deputy Secretary Mohammad Monir Hossain.

According to the letter, the meeting has been convened to review the law and order situation and take necessary measures centering the by-election to the vacant Bogura-6 seat of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad and the election in Sherpur-3 constituency.

The law and order meeting will be held at 1:30 pm at the conference room of the Election Commission Secretariat here.

Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah will preside over the meeting. Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat and other concerned officials will also be present.

Letters have already been sent to the chiefs of different forces and agencies inviting them to attend the meeting.

Those invited include the chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force, the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division, the Inspector General of Police and other top officials of various security agencies.

The meeting is expected to discuss the overall law and order situation, security arrangements and distribution of responsibilities among different forces in the field during the upcoming elections.
