SC functions suspended for half-day in honour of Justice Mesbahuddin

DHAKA, Dec 15, 2025 (BSS) - Judicial functions of the Appellate Division and the High Court Division of the Supreme Court will remain suspended for half of the day in honour of retired High Court Division Justice AFM Mesbahuddin.
 
Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, while presiding over a seven-member bench of the Appellate Division this morning, announced that the Appellate Division will not sit after the first half of the day as a mark of respect to the late Justice Mesbahuddin, a former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
 
He also said that the High Court Division will not sit in the second half after lunch. Besides, the Chamber Court of the Appellate Division will not sit today.
 
Justice AFM Mesbahuddin passed away last night due to old age complications. He was 80.
 
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at the Supreme Court Inner Garden after Zuhr prayers today.
