DHAKA, Feb 03, 2026 (BSS) - The High Court (HC) today dismissed a writ petition filed by National Citizen Party (NCP) convener and 11-party alliance candidate Nahid Islam, thereby upholding the validity of the candidacy of his rival, BNP-nominated candidate MA Quayum, in the Dhaka-11 constituency.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Md Ashif Hasan passed the order, summarily dismissing the writ filed over the allegation of Quayum's dual citizenship.

Senior advocate Ahsanul Karim and Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal argued for MA Quayum, while Mohammad Hossain Lipu stood for Nahid.
