Legal Aid disposes of 240,720 cases at government expense

DHAKA, Aug 13, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 240,720 cases involving financially disadvantaged litigants have been disposed of at government expense through the National Legal Aid Services Organization (Legal Aid).

The information was revealed in a report on the activities of Legal Aid from 2009 to July 2026. The report has been published on the organization’s website.

According to the report, a total of 240,720 cases have been disposed of through legal aid services. Of these, 2,369 cases were disposed of through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, 237,527 through the 64 District Legal Aid Offices across the country, and 824 through the Labour Legal Aid Cells in Dhaka and Chattogram.

The government provides these services at public expense under the Legal Aid Services Act to financially disadvantaged and incapacitated litigants in the country.

The National Legal Aid Services Organization, under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, conducts these activities.
