Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia reaches London

DHAKA, Jan 8, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia reached London this afternoon by a special air ambulance.

"The air ambulance carrying her landed at Heathrow International Airport in London at 2:55 pm (Bangladesh time)", BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan quoted Khaleda Zia's personal physician Professor AZM Zahid Hossain as saying.

Bangladesh acting High Commissioner in London Mohammad Hazrat Ali Khan welcomed the former prime minister with a bouquet at the airport.

After monitoring her physical condition there, Khaleda Zia may be admitted to a London clinic. An ambulance has been kept ready for this.

Earlier, Khaleda Zia's air ambulance left here at 11:45 pm on Tuesday. The airbus made a stopover in Doha after her nearly eight-hour journey en-route to London.

Upon her arrival at the Doha airport, Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Nazrul Islam welcomed the former premier and inquired about her physical condition.

Khaleda Zia last visited London on July 16, 2017, for follow-up treatment of her eyes and feet.
