Ramna Division Deputy Police Commissioner Md. Masud Alam, Assistant Commissioner Abdullah Al Mamun, two female police personnel and three male constables were injured in the attack. Of them, Mamun suffered critical injuries, said a police press release here.

The statement said that police intercepted a group of 60/70 people, including men and women at Hotel InterContinental intersection at Shahbagh around 3:35pm when they (protesters) were heading towards Jamuna, the official residence of Chief Adviser.

The protesters used women as shields to move towards Jamuna after breaking the police barricade there.
