Strict action if anyone blocks road: IGP

DHAKA, Mar 13, 2025 (BSS) - Inspector General of Police (IGP) of police Md Baharul Alam today warned of taking tougher action if anyone blocks road to press home to realize any demand.

“No one can block roads in the name of realizing any demand. It is unacceptable to create suffering of the people ahead of the Eid by blocking roads. We will take strict action if any one blocks road,” he said. 

The police chief said this while speaking to the journalists after attending a welfare meeting with the members of various units of Industrial Police at the Industrial Police Headquarters in Gazipur. 

Urging everybody to help police to discharge their duties the IGP said, “Don’t consider the police as an opponent and don’t attack us. Give us a chance to serve the country.” 

The IGP called upon the owners of the industries to take necessary measures to pay the salary of February, Eid bonus and 15 days salary of March by 20th Ramadan as announced by the government. 

He called upon the workers no to heed any kind of rumors and went for destroying their industries.

Pointing out the role of industrial police in the country’s economy, the police chief said they are discharging duties tirelessly with utmost professional responsibility. 

The special welfare meeting was presided over by Additional IG of Industrial Police Md. Sibgat Ullah. DIG of Industrial Police Md. Abu Kalam Siddique and DIG Ashrafuzzaman spoke, among others, on the occasion.

The IGP was informed about the demands of the industrial police and asked the concerned authorities to take measures to implement the logical demands in phases.
 
He also asked for maintaining the law and order strictly in the industrial areas ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
