Court freezes another 31 bank accounts of Hasina, Rehana, others

DHAKA, March 18, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered to freeze another 31 bank accounts of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul, and sister Sheikh Rehana, over graft allegations.

Confirming the matter to BSS, deputy director (public relations) Akterul Islam said Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a petition filed by investigation officer and ACC deputy director Monirul Islam.

The accounts have Taka 394.60 crore deposited currently, the ACC sources said.

The ACC in its plea said the ousted prime minister and his family members are trying to hand over or transfer the said movable properties and that is why their accounts should be frozen.

The court on March 11 had ordered to freeze 124 bank accounts of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul, Sheikh Rehana, and people concerned with their interests.
