Independence Day to be observed with special programmes

DHAKA, March 18, 2025 (BSS) - The government has instructed all government and non-government educational institutions to arrange programmes to mark the 'Genocide Day' on March 25 and Independence Day on March 26 in a befitting manner.

Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) on Monday instructed all government and non-government schools and colleges, and training institutions to arrange programmes according to their convenience to mark both the occasions.

All secondary and higher secondary educational institutions across the country will organise discussion on Independence Day on March 26.

On March 25, schools, colleges, and other institutions will host memorial meetings in participation with freedom fighters and distinguished persons of the society who will share their memories on the genocide and the Liberation War.

On the Independence Day the national flag will be hoisted atop all public and private buildings and educational institutions. National anthem will be played in the student assemblies while Independence Day parades will be arranged at divisional, district, and Upazila levels.

National-level essay and recitation competitions will be organized between March 20 and 25, to commemorate Independence and National Day.

Various sports events, including football, T20 cricket, and kabaddi tournaments will be held at the district and Upazila levels, involving students from schools and colleges.

The Independence Day programmes will be observed in all educational institutions aimed at instilling patriotism and awareness among students about the nation's history and sacrifices.
