DHAKA, May 12, 2025 (BSS) - Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin today said the commission will determine the registration issue of Awami League upon receiving the official gazette over the ban on its activities.

"We've not yet received the gazette. We're awaiting the notification and will decide once it arrives," he said.

The CEC made these remarks while talking to media after a meeting with the Carter Center delegation at the commission office in the city's Agargaon.

"Just wait... once the sun rises in the sky, everything will become clear," he added.

In response to a question, Nasir Uddin stated that decisions can't be made solely based on media reports. "We will review the notification once it is issued and then make a decision. Let the notification come first."

He continued, "The Election Commission is definitely a constitutional body, and we're fully aware of it. We are currently awaiting the gazette notification."

When asked another question, the CEC clarified, "We've not yet received the gazette on this matter. Once the government's gazette reaches us, we will convene a commission meeting to make a decision."

"At this moment, we didn't take any action. Although we're aware of media reports, we can't comment without officially receiving the exact information."
