KHULNA, May 23, 2025 (BSS) - Adviser to the Ministry of Industries, Adilur Rahman Khan today paid homage at the grave of Shaheed Sheikh Md. Sakib Rayhan, a martyr of the July uprising. 

The adviser visited Sakib Rayhan's grave around 11.30am at the Bosupara Gravyard under the Sonadanga Model Police Station in Khulna city.

He placed floral tributes at the martyr Sakib grave's and offered munajat (prayers) for the salvation of the departed soul. 

KDA Chairman Brigadier General Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarkar, Khulna Range DIG Md. Rezaul Haque, along with senior KDA officials and administrative personnel, also took part in the munajat.

Following the homage, the adviser proceeded to visit various development projects of the Khulna Development Authority (KDA) as per his scheduled programme, said KDA Chief Engineer Sabirul Alam.

Adviser Adilur came to Khulna to inspect some of KDA's project sites. He is scheduled to travel to Jashore tomorrow for another programme.

Sakib Rayhan, a madrasa student, was shot and killed by police on July 19 last year during 'Anti-Discrimination Students-People Movement in Mirpur, Dhaka. 

He was later brought back to Khulna and buried at the Bosupara Graveyard at dawn in the following day with tight security. 

Sakib was the youngest of three siblings and had memorised 18 paras of the Holy Quran.

He had gone to Dhaka in search of a job but became a martyr while participating in the movement.
