Arrest godfathers of drugs: Jahangir

COX’S BAZAR, July 14, 2025 (BSS)– Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) has asked the law enforcing agencies to mobilize their efforts to capture the ‘godfathers’ of the drug trafficking. 
 
“Not only the carriers, but also the godfathers of the drug trafficking must be captured to protect the next generation, family, society and the state from ruining,” he said.
 
The home adviser was presiding over a meeting on Rohingya infiltration, camp management and drug control here today.

Cox’s bazaar deputy commissioner office organized the meeting at the regional centre of BIAM Foundation. 
           
The Home Adviser has stressed the need for changing the mindset of the concerned officers and employees and working with utmost sincerity to get maximum benefit from the anti-drug operations. 
 
“All drug traffickers must be exposed to justice,” he said, adding that drugs have infiltrated in Cox’s bazaar along with Rohingyas. Everybody have to change their mentality and work sincerely to root out the drugs.
 
Jahangir called upon the residents of Cox’s Bazar to be united and remain alert against the drug abuse. 
 
The Home Adviser said the mob violence will be stopped if people become aware. No mercy would be shown to the perpetrators of the mob violence and extortionists. 
 
He also called upon all not to take law in their own hands, saying, otherwise ‘tough action’ will be taken against them. 
 
Disaster Management and Relief Adviser Faruk E Azam, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Abdul Hafiz, Cox’s Bazar DC Mohammad Salahuddin and Police Super Saifudding Shahin, among others, were present. 
 
Representatives from the army, navy and air forces, police, RAB, BGB, Department of Narcotic Control (DNC) and the Home Ministry attended the meeting.
