NEW YORK, Nov 8, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Marko Mitrovic, who coached United States teams to the quarter-finals of the Paris Olympics and this year's FIFA under-20 World Cup, was named coach of the New England Revolution on Friday.

The 47-year-old Serbian replaced Caleb Porter, who was dropped in September after the Revolution finished 9-16 with nine draw for 36 points, 11th in the Eastern Conference and out of the MLS playoffs for the second year in a row.

"We're really excited to welcome Marko Mitrovic as head coach," Revolution sporting director Curt Onalfo said.

"During the interview process, Marko's tactical acumen and modern coaching philosophies set him apart. It's crystal clear he shares our ambitions to compete for trophies in 2026 and beyond.

"His extensive coaching experience at both the club and international levels, including on some of the world's biggest stages, have prepared him well for this pivotal role."

Mitrovic played as a midfielder for 15 seasons on clubs in Europe and Asia before retiring as a player in 2010. As a coach he has served as an assistant with the MLS Chicago Fire and England's Reading before his time with US national teams.
