Khusbu emerges champion Int'l FIDE Rating Women's Chess

DHAKA, March 31, 2026 (BSS)- Woman FIDE Master Warsia Khusbu of Bangladesh 
Navy emerged champion in the Begum Laila Alam International FIDE Rating 
Women's Chess that concluded Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room today 
(Tuesday).

WFM Warsia Khusbu clinched the title with 5.5 points out of seven games to 
clinch the title. With the same score, Woman Candidate Master Neelava 
Choudhury of Bangladesh Ansar finished as the runner-up. 

Woman Candidate Master Israt Jahan Diba of Bangladesh Police became third and 
Woman International Master Rani Hamid secured fourth positions. 

After the end of seventh round, Khusbu, Neelava, Diba, and Rani Hamid scored 
5.5 points each. As a result, their final standings were determined through 
the tie-breaking system. In the tie-break, Khusbu emerged as the champion.

With five points, Woman Candidate Master Nusrat Jahan Alo of Bangladesh Ansar 
finished fifth position. Woman FIDE Master Nazrana Khan Eva of Bangladesh 
Police became sixth while Tasnia Tarannum Orpa of South Point Sports Club 
secured seventh place.

Jannatul Preety finished eighth, Jinnat Akter Shahnaz ninth and Kaumudi 
Nargis tenth with Scoring 4.5 points each. Woman Candidate Master Walijah 
Ahmed and Raiena Hasan placed eleventh and twelfth respectively after tie-
break securing four points each.

WCM Warisa Haider, Zowena Mehbish, Afshan Ahliat Kreste and Mubassira Tasneem 
Tonima received special prizes.

The seventh and final round matches, WFM Khusbu split point with WCM Neelava, 
and WCM Alo split point with WFM Nazrana. WIM Rani Hamid defeated Jinnat, WCM 
Diba beat WCM Walijah, Preety defeated Ahona and Nargis defeated Zowena.
