Sylhet divisional journalists’ body gets new executive committee

DHAKA, July 21, 2025 (BSS) – Sylhet Bibhagiya Sangbadik Samiti, a platform of the journalists from Sylhet division working in different print and electronic media in the capital, has got a 17-member new executive committee for the next two years.
Abul Kalam of the Daily Nayadiganta was elected as President and Rahim Sheikh of the Rupali Bangladesh as General Secretary respectively of the platform. 

Chief Election Commissioner Kamal Chowdhury for the election management committee announced the results after holding the election at Economic Reporters’ Forum (ERF) auditorium in the city’s Paltan area this afternoon.  

Election Commissioners Kazi Tofail Ahmed and Mostafa Selim were also present on the occasion that was followed by the biennial general meeting of the body. 

Other office bearers are: Vice-President Shafi Uddin Ahmad of Channel S, Joint General Secretary Swapna Chakrabarty and Organizing Secretary Selim Ahmed of the Rupali Bangladesh, Treasurer Benu Sutradhar of the Ajkaler Khobor, Office Secretary Jamil Ahmed of bahannonews.com, Welfare Secretary Billal Hossain Sagor of RTV, Education, Training and Research Secretary Syed Altefat Hossain of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), Literary and Cultural Affairs Secretary Mousumi Acharya of Article 19, Health and Sports Secretary Shafiqul Hasan Sohel of the Daily Bhorer Dak and Publicity Secretary Alam Ansari of Banijjo Protidin.

The executive members included: Mizanur Rahman of the Manabzamin, Alamgir Hossain of the Daily Jugantor, Ali Ibrahim of the Kalbela, freelance journalist Syeda Farzana Jaman Rumpa and SMA Kashem Harun of the Daily Janakantha. 

Later, the outgoing President Kazi Tofail Ahmed handed over the charge to the newly elected President and General Secretary of the Sylhet Bibhagiya Sangbadik Samiti.
