Gulistan Sundarban Square Market fire under control

DHAKA, Aug 2, 2025 (BSS) - A fire broke out at Sundarban Square Market in the capital's Gulistan area this morning has been brought under control.

The fire that originated around 10am on the fifth floor of the market was brought under control around 11:12 am, media officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) Talha bin Zasim told BSS.

Eleven units of the FSCD rushed to the spot immediately after the fire broke out and managed to control the blaze after one hour and 12 minutes of intense efforts, he added.

The fire service also used a drone to assess the exact situation of the fire in order to extinguish the flame effectively, he said.

Duty officer of the FSCD Rashed Bin Khalid told BSS that no casualties have been reported so far.

The cause of the fire and the extent of damage could not be determined immediately, he added.
