Pakistan commerce minister in city on 4-day visit

DHAKA, Aug 21, 2025 (BSS) - Pakistan Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan has arrived here on a four-day official visit in a bid to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Kamal landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport last night where Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin welcomed him. Senior officials from the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present at the airport.

During the visit, discussions will focus on enhancing trade between the two countries, identifying new areas for investment, and further strengthening economic relations. 

Current trade prospects and future cooperation opportunities between Bangladesh and Pakistan will be at the core of the talks, said a Commerce Ministry press release today.

Jam Kamal Khan will stay in Bangladesh till August 24. During the visit, four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed, which will help boost trade cooperation between the two nations. 

He will also hold meetings with top government representatives as well as leaders of business associations. In addition, as part of his program, he will visit Chattogram Port, a pharmaceutical manufacturing company, and a steel factory.

The release said this high-level visit is expected to give further momentum to the longstanding friendly and economic relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
