DHAKA, Aug 21, 2025 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today ordered the authorities concerned to declare the UN fact finding report on 2024 July Uprising as a ‘historic document’.

A High Court division bench of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Sayed Jahed Mansur pronounced the judgment, declaring absolute a rule it had issued earlier.

The court ordered to publish this report as a gazette titled ‘July Revulation-2024’. It also asked the Law Ministry to submit a progress report on the matter within three months.

The court on May 14, 2025, issued the rule asking as to why the fact finding report of the United Nations (UN) on the July Mass Uprising will not be declared as a “historic document”.

The division bench of the HC comprising Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Mubina Asaf passed the order after holding hearing on a writ filed by Supreme Court (SC) lawyer Md Tanvir Ahmed.

In the rule, the HC bench also asked as to why the document will not be preserved for the future generations.
