Durga Puja will be celebrated peacefully: RpMP Commissioner

RANGPUR, Sept 19, 2025 (BSS) - Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Md Majid Ali has said that this year's Durga Puja will be completed peacefully in a festive atmosphere with the joint efforts of all concerned in Rangpur city.

"The Rangpur Metropolitan Police will work with utmost sincerity and professionalism to celebrate the Autumn Durga Puja peacefully," he said. 

He said this while presiding over a meeting on law and order and security on the occasion of "Sharadiya Durga Puja-2025" at the RpMP conference hall in the city on Thursday afternoon.

Important discussions were held on the security of the Puja Mandap, maintenance of law and order and public safety in the meeting. 

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), leaders of Puja Udjavan Parishad and Puja Mandap Committee, government and private officials and officials of the concerned police stations. 

The RpMP Chief said that installation of CCTV cameras in each Puja Mandap, night patrolling, supervision of the Intelligence Branch and coordination with the Fire Service and Electricity Department will be ensured. 

Volunteers have been instructed to immediately inform the police if any suspicious person or activity is seen. 

"Cyber monitoring will be intensified to prevent rumors or propaganda, and traffic management will be strengthened so that traffic jams do not occur. Monitoring teams will be formed at each Puja mandap," he said.

He expressed optimism that the Durga Puja will be completed peacefully in a festive atmosphere with the joint efforts of the administration, Puja celebration committee and the general public.
