CHATTOGRAM, Nov 3, 2025 (BSS) - A consignment of 60,802 metric tons of wheat from the United States has reached Kutubdia outer anchorage aboard the vessel MV Spar Aris under the G2G Agreement No. 1 between Bangladesh and the US.

The ship, which sailed from the US port of Corpus Christi, anchored off the coast of Kutubdia around 4 am today. Port officials said samples have been collected from the ship for quality testing before the unloading process begins.

According to port sources, the consignment is part of a 240,000-metric-ton wheat supply agreement being shipped to Bangladesh in four phases. Wheat from the first vessel has already been unloaded, while the remaining two are on their way.

Silo Superintendent of the Food Department Rakibul Hasan confirmed the arrival and said unloading is expected to be completed within a day or two. He added that part of the wheat will be discharged at Chattogram Port using lighter vessels, while the rest will be unloaded in Narayanganj and Mongla.

The imported wheat will be stored in government warehouses and distributed across the country through the Ministry of Food, he added.

Silo Superintendent Rakibul Hasan said unloading is expected to be completed within two days, with the wheat to be distributed through Chattogram, Narayanganj, and Mongla ports.
