BGB deployed to assist at Jamela Tower fire site in Keraniganj

DHAKA, Dec 13, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have been deployed at the site of a fire that broke out early this morning at Jamela Tower in Babu Bazar area of Keraniganj, Dhaka, to assist in maintaining law and order and supporting rescue operations.

BGB members were deployed to help secure the area, control crowds and ensure the smooth movement of emergency responders during the operation.

Shariful Islam, public relations officer of the force, confirmed the BGB deployment.

The fire started on the ground floor of the 12-storey building around dawn. 

According to Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD), the incident was reported at 5:37 am, and firefighting units reached the scene within eight minutes, at 5:45 am.

FSCD media officer Anwarul Islam said that 42 people were rescued safely from the building and no casualties were reported. 

A total of 18 firefighting units from Keraniganj, Sadarghat and Siddiq Bazar fire stations are currently working to bring the blaze under control.

The cause of the fire could not be determined immediately, and an investigation will be conducted after the situation is fully brought under control, fire service officials said.
